Queensland Secondary had a very eventful few days in June, dashing between events to meet with educators and leaders from across the state. A huge thank you to QAMT, MLTAQ and ConQEST for accommodating Pearson at your events.

Read on as Lilly Dell, Pearson's Queensland Key Account Manager shares her experience of these fantastic events!

Day 1: Queensland Association of Mathematics Teachers 2022 State Conference

To begin the adventure, I proudly represented Pearson in celebrating looking forward and looking back on mathematics education in the past and future 100 years at the stunning All Hallows’ School in Brisbane City. The weather was superb, and the view was equally impressive - check out the Story Bridge pic!)

Queensland Association of Mathematics Teachers delivered an engaging and insightful event, exploring themes including pedagogies for the future, curriculum for the future and the role of disposition towards mathematics. So many exciting and innovative minds, it was a wonderful day!

Day 2: 2022 Modern Language Teachers’ Association of Queensland Biennial Conference

Not too far around the way at Nathan Campus Griffith University, the following day was spent chatting with Queensland Languages educators, showcasing Pearson’s rapidly growing secondary languages portfolio at the 2022 Modern Language Teachers’ Association of Queensland Biennial Conference.

Over 150 educators attended in person or virtually, immersing themselves in professional support and advocacy for language teachers in Queensland. We even had the pleasure of running into Japanese teacher and expert co-author of Pearson’s iiTomo Senior resource - Kelly Harrison! I just loved getting out there and enjoying face-to-face, human connections!

Day 3: Queensland Education Science Technicians, ConQEST 2022

Day three and event number 3, I ventured out west where the weather was slightly less balmy! ConQEST 2022 at UQ Gatton, organised by Queensland Education Science Technicians Inc. brought together the fabulous Science Laboratory Technicians from Queensland Schools.

'A Healthy Dose of Science' was dished out by so many including Doug Bail, Director at Cider House ICT and lead author of our Physics QLD Skills & Assessment workbooks. Doug and Cider House partnered with Pearson to showcase the SPARKLabs in Pearson Science and PASCO’s light sensor for colour intensity experimentation. There was so much fun had with this experiment – thanks Doug and all who participated!

We would also like to congratulate Assisi Catholic College, Coomera as the lucky winner of our donated prize, a Digital Microscope Imager from Cider House Tech. Enjoy and we hope to see you next year!

As both a parent and as QLD’s Pearson Education Consultant – thank you.

How grateful I am to be out and about, representing all things Pearson and enjoying human connection again. A special thank you to the organisers and fellow exhibitors at each of the events, for your hospitality, teamwork, and insightful conversations. At Pearson, we put our purpose – to add life to a lifetime of learning – at the heart of all we do, and I couldn’t do it without the support of the passionate community of teachers and learners in Queensland and those who volunteer so much of their time to be, do and offer their best in our Queensland schools.
