Assessment for a new generation: onscreen assessment
Speakers: Meredith Reeve, Head of Next Generation Assessment at Pearson School Qualifications, Irene Custodio, Digital Lead within Assessment Design at Pearson and Katie Templar, Secondary Deputy Head at Qatar International School
Taking exams onscreen is a natural choice for students and Pearson is proud to lead the way as the first awarding body to offer onscreen International GCSE exams alongside traditional paper-based exams. In this session, we will share more on why and when international schools may want to choose onscreen over paper-based assessment, hear from international schools who have opted for the onscreen route and delve into new and exciting research around the impact of onscreen assessment for SEND students.
Assessment for a new generation: modular qualifications
Speakers: Henna Nathwani, Head of International Qualifications at Pearson School Qualifications
Government education departments have often sparked the “What is the best assessment model?” debate as they’ve evolved national curriculums and programmes of study. Part of this debate is whether linear assessment (doing all the assessment at the end of a programme of study) or modular assessment (doing assessment at the end of each unit or module) is the best for high stakes exams such as GCSE/International GCSE or A Level/International AS/A level.
In this session we take a look at the history of modular and linear assessment, the virtues of each approach, and how we determine what is best for our students to ensure everyone has the best chance of success.
