Hello everyone today. We are being asked the following question. What is the lewis structure for this particular molecule here also? What is the molecular geometry for each of its non terminal atoms? Well, first we have to construct the lewis dot structure and in doing that we have to first determine how many valence electrons we have total. And so we have florins in this molecule and we have phosphorus atoms in this molecule, florian is a group seven a molecule and therefore has seven valence electrons. Also there are four of them. So we're gonna multiply that by four. And so we have 28 electrons total for our flooring For our phosphorus phosphorus is in a group of five a of the periodic table and therefore has five valence electrons. However, we only have two. So we're gonna multiply that five by two to get 10 electrons. And so in total We're going to have 38 electrons that we can use in constructing this lewis. Something that's also important to know about flooring is that flooring. Flooring can form only one bond. So if we have to phosphorus groups or atoms, we can label them in this following fashion. We can place them next to each other and simply put the way these molecules molecules arranged is that it purposefully has these florins attached to each individual phosphorus group. And so with each bond line representing two electrons, we've already used up eight. So we have to place 30 more. So what we do is we're going to go ahead and place six around each flooring because this satisfies the octet rule. And since we have four additional electrons that we can place we place them on our phosphorus groups. And so now we have our lewis structure and we must now determine the molecular geometry for the non for the non terminal adam. And in this case that non terminal atom is going to be phosphorus or whichever adam is not on the edge because terminal means end. So non terminal is the atom that is not on the end. And so if we look at our molecule here, we can see that both phosphorus groups are going to be identical and they both so both phosphorus groups, they have three bond lines As well as one lone pair. And so as it would suggest this is going to align with the following formula. We're going to have a X three or sub three E one.
