Dr. Robert L. Gould, University of California – Los Angeles
Robert L. Gould (PhD, University of California–San Diego) is a leader in the statistics education community. He has served as chair of the American Statistical Association’s Committee on Teacher Enhancement, chair of the ASA’s Statistics Education Section, and was a co-author of the Guidelines for Assessment in Instruction on Statistics Education (GAISE) College Report. For over ten years, he has served as vice-chair of undergraduate studies at the UCLA Department of Statistics, and he is director of the UCLA Center for the Teaching of Statistics.
He draws on years of experience teaching at UCLA and wrote Introductory Statistics with students trying to transfer from community colleges in mind. His text promotes “data analysis for everyone.” Currently, Rob is heavily immersed in the data science discussion: chairing ASA-AMATYC joint committee on developing data science curriculum committees, keynoting international workshops, and recipient of a NSF-funded grant to develop DS curriculum in LA School Districts. He was the founder and administrator of DataFest!
