For many years, BTEC Higher National Certificates and Diplomas have been recognised as the principal vocational undergraduate qualifications at levels 4 and 5, which is why we are committed to making sure that these qualifications will also be a high value choice as Higher Technical Qualifications.

All of our BTEC Higher Nationals and newly approved HTQs have been expertly designed in collaboration with industry, subject specialists, education partners, apprentice alumni and learner groups so they can be delivered with confidence.

Our current portfolio

Pearson has received Higher Technical Qualification status for all BTEC Higher National qualifications that have been submitted to IfATE so far. We currently have HTQs in the Computing, Digital Technologies, Construction, Healthcare and Sport sectors, with Business Administration and Engineering awaiting a response.

Collaboration at the heart

Utilising a combination of subject expertise, links with industry and expert design and validation capabilities, many of the qualifications we have submitted for HTQ approval have been designed in collaboration with FE Colleges and IoTs, in order to meet the need in their local area. Working with universities

Our Higher Technical Qualifications have been designed and validated by our subject experts, before being approved by IfATE. Once approved, the qualifications are then available for universities to deliver off-the-shelf under the Higher National trademark and IP licence agreement, as the university's own awarded HTQ, saving them time and resource to get on with what is important.

Located outside England?

Higher Technical Qualifications will only be taught in England, however our current portfolio of BTEC Higher National Qualifications are taught in over 50 countries around the world. We will continue to revalidate qualifications in key sectors to make sure they are fit for purpose and deliver the same quality as they always have.
