The Functional Skills Festival of Functionality is back for its second year. Aimed at teachers of Pearson’s Functional Skills English and maths, this CPD festival also includes sessions on ESOL, Digital Functional Skills and Essential Digital Skills. All the sessions are FREE and are designed to support your delivery of these qualifications.

What is on offer?

Getting Ready to Teach Events

These events offer an introduction to Pearson's Functional Skills qualifications in English and Maths across Entry Level to Level 2. They are ideal for practitioners new to delivering Pearson Functional Skills or those wishing to refresh their understanding.

Lessons Learnt Events

An opportunity to look back on 2022-23 and gain an understanding on where learners were going wrong in their Functional Skills assessments with some top tips on how to rectify these issues. Suitable for teachers and assessors as well as managers of Functional Skills.

An opportunity to get the latest updates on the Pearson Functional Skills offer for Work-based Learning, FE and Schools providers and ask questions of our specialist support.

Subject Specific Events

An opportunity to look at a range of areas:

  • Maths - review of problems solving skills with exemplar responses and how they are marked.
  • Speaking, Listening and Communicating - review of all levels including overview of verification processes.
  • Writing - review and practical support for your learners with exemplar responses and how they are marked.
  • Marked learner work - covers how Level 1 and 2 assessments are marked for maths using real learner assessed work.
  • Reading skills - covers how reading is assessed with practical guide on how to teach reading effectively.

Supporting Learners With Additional Needs Events

These sessions offer a practical guide to teaching Functional Skills maths and English for tutors with learners that have additional needs.

ESOL, EDSQ and Digital FSQ Events

These sessions offer support for a range of additional Pearson Skills qualifications including ESOL, EDSQ and Digital Functional Skills.
