What funding is available to schools for tutoring in 2023/24?
The National Tutoring Programme is continuing in 2023/24 with all available funding being provided directly to schools. Schools can use this funding to subsidise 50% of tutoring costs, subject to the maximum hourly per pupil rate stated by the DfE, when using Pearson (an Approved Tuition partner).
Who is eligible for tutor funding?
Any state-maintained school in England.
How much funding will we receive?
Funding levels are determined by the number of Pupil Premium students on roll at a rate of £162 per PP-eligible pupil in mainstream schools.
Can we decide how to use our funding?
Your Pupil Premium (PP) cohort should be prioritised in line with the NTP’s objective of supporting disadvantaged pupils’, but you may also consider offering tutoring to other pupils where appropriate.
Funds cannot though be rolled over for use in the 2023/24 acedmic year. Any unspent funding will need to be returned by a school at the end of 2022/23 accompanied by their Year-End Statement.
