Reception baseline comparability study published
The Department for Education announced in a press release published on 7 April 2016 that, following a comparability study, the reception baseline assessment will not be used as a starting point to measure pupil progress.
However, the press release goes on to say that DfE:
"....will continue to look at the best way to assess pupils in the early years."
The issue may now move to 7 year olds, signalled in the Education Secretary’s Policy Exchange speech last November as an area in which the government was looking to strengthen the reporting of pupil progress.
