Myth busting series: Tutoring is time consuming
Is online tutoring really time consuming? Not at all! Many think that with the set-up involved and the ongoing communication needed with the tutor, an in-person tutor is the easiest option but that’s not the case when a smooth process is in place.
Set up
We make online tutoring a straightforward, quick and easy process for all involved.
Right at the beginning we offer a one-to-one video call with one of our tutoring experts to help teachers get up and running, providing a full demonstration of how to use the online platform and providing tips on planning sessions too.
Our registration and booking system are easy as well, allowing teachers to register more than one student at a time and block book sessions. We also help teachers to secure the best tutor for their students quickly, giving teachers and tutors more time to prepare before the sessions begin.
And the actual technology, once the platform is set up, your tutor is in place and your devices are ready, the rest takes care of itself!
Meet your tutors
A quick video or phone call with your selected tutor(s) prior to the sessions starting provides you with an overview of how the sessions will be run whilst giving you the opportunity to share information with the tutor on who they will be supporting. Although a call is ideal, it’s not vital. You can share information about your students and what you would like the tutor to cover in an email too. As fully qualified teachers, our tutors can then take forward the sessions using tailored approaches to suit your students’ needs and your wider class priorities. And you can relax, knowing your students are in good hands.
Follow up and next steps
And being kept in the loop is easy too! At the end of every session, Pearson Tutors will send you a brief overview of what they have covered in the session, what the student has done well at and what they may need some extra support within class.
Our new school dashboard also provides teachers with another level of information at a click of a button, allowing teachers to check attendance at tutoring sessions, pre- and post-test results at a school and MAT level, confidence, understanding and engagement ratings by both tutors and pupils as well as the ability to apply data retrospectively, so you can get last year’s impact data too!
