About the speaker

Roena Clarke, Brightpoint Community College
Roena Clarke is a graduate of the University of Virginia School of Nursing and received her Master’s Degree in Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University. Her areas of practice include general pediatrics with a focus on pediatric oncology. She spent five years working at University of Virginia Medical Center and also worked as a Pediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist after graduate school for several years. She spent the next 12 years as a medical transcriptionist working from home while raising her three sons.
Roena is a strong advocate for building relationships with students and being actively engaged in their assignments throughout her classes. Her passion for teaching is evident both in the classroom and the online setting. She frequently has online students comment that they feel more connected to her as their online instructor than they do with others who are teaching in the classroom.
