About our authors

Fred R. David has been lead author of this textbook for nearly 4 decades. This text is a global leader in the field of strategic management providing an application, practitioner-oriented approach to the discipline. About 500 colleges and universities have used this textbook that is translated into numerous languages and widely used globally. With a PhD in management from the University of South Carolina, Dr. Fred David is currently Professor Emeritus of Strategic Planning at Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina. He has published more than 100 academic journal articles and cases.

Forest R. David holds a PhD in business administration from the University of Debrecen in Debrecen, Hungary. Dr. Forest David has been sole author of the Case Instructor's Manual (CIM) for 8 editions of this text. This CIM provides extensive teachers' notes (solutions) for all the cases. Forest has also been sole author of the Chapter Instructor's Manual, as well as the free Excel Student Template found on the author website at www.strategyclub.com. Dr. Forest David has published more than 80 strategic management cases, articles and papers. He has taught strategic management at Mississippi State University, Francis Marion University, and the University of Debrecen and has also taught business courses at Campbell University in North Carolina, as well as at Partium Christian University in Oradea, Romania.

Meredith E. David holds a PhD in business administration from the University of South Carolina and an MBA Degree from Wake Forest University. Dr. Meredith David is currently a tenured associate professor of marketing at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, where she recently received the prestigious Young Researcher Award. She has published more than 50 articles, cases, and papers on marketing and strategic management in journals such as the Journal of Business Research, Journal of Advertising, Journal of Strategic Marketing, European Journal of Marketing, and Business Horizons. Meredith has traveled the world over as a professor and student, including teaching strategic management at Jiao Tong University in Shanghai, China. In her career, Meredith has traveled to Australia, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Curacao, England, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Lebanon, Macau, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Romania, Taiwan and Thailand.

Fred R. David, Forest R. David, and Meredith E. David are a father–son–daughter team that has published scores of articles in top journals such as Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Executive, Journal of Applied Psychology, Long Range Planning, International Journal of Management, Journal of Business Strategy, and Advanced Management Journal.
