Who are the Pearson Student Diversity Ambassadors?

They are self-motivated, enthusiastic learners who are not afraid of expressing their views. They are open, authentically themselves and feel confident advocating for others. They embrace learning, new challenges and opportunities. They are passionate about Diversity, social issues and building an equitable and sustainable world. They are the future!

Chloe Nash

"I would like to teach people about diversity and help people become the best version of themselves. I do not like how schools treat issues to do with diversity. Racism, homophobia and gender discrimination is so prevalent in schools at the moment and is causing some people serious mental health issues. Nobody’s education should be affected by who they are and where they have come from. I would like to help people realise they should be themselves and not be discriminated against, I want people to walk around schools expressing themselves and be themselves without being harassed for it."

"In my opinion, I think that every individual should have the same opportunities regardless of their background, gender, ethnicity or disability. I think that staff and workers working with children should treat all pupils the same and allow the students to participate in anything that can help them develop their academic successes.

This opportunity will help me develop my leadership skills further and will also help me build my CV."

"As a black woman I have experienced a lot of racism and unfairness. I want to educate people so that our future kids don’t ever have to experience that. I want to be able to live in a diverse society where you don’t get judged just because of your skin colour.

We need to have teachers that have different ethnicities that teach students about all the different ethnicities. I also think we should have a day where you come wearing a traditional outfit that way you can educate other students that way it puts an image of your culture."

"No matter what background or age or record, there should be more revision clubs and more experiences such as school trips so you can experience it in real life and not over a screen.

I would like to use my voice and help students that are scared to have their own voices heard.

I aspire to become a lawyer in the future."

"I like to help people in the best way I can, and I always try my best to be nice to everyone around me and I feel like that if I listen to their opinions and take them into consideration and make them a reality it will make them feel heard and appreciated.

I think we need to teach people to include everyone and not tolerate bullying. As a victim of bullying, it ruins the child’s mental health. We need to help students develop good relationships with teachers and make lessons more enjoyable and improve the learning environment in general so people can feel safe and comfortable where they learn."

"I want to help make changes to schools and make sure everyone feels they can achieve the grades they desire and encourage others not to give up. I’m very friendly and approachable and take ideas from others so we as a community can take part in making schools a better place.

I would like to achieve good grades so I can go to drama school. I would then like to get an apprenticeship and go to University to pursue my acting dream."

"I love learning about other people and any cultures or traditions they have. I am also very outgoing and sociable so communicating with others would be enjoyable for me. I also believe that everyone should be treated equally and included in whatever they want to accomplish so I feel I would be able to help achieve that.

I think we need to design lessons to be inclusive to everyone and have support groups in communities and schools for all people to confide in and feel appreciated. Certain students may need additional help so that should always be offered no matter the situation to provide all students equal opportunities."

"I believe to be a student diversity ambassador you need to have an open mind and willing to learn new things and that’s what I am all about.

In the next 5 years I want to pass all my GCSEs, pass my A-levels, and get into a good university to study law. Want to make my mum specifically proud, be my friends' laughter and inspiration and to be happy."

"I would like to be a student diversity ambassador as I believe I have the capability of speaking to my peers and understanding how they would like to feel supported and confident while at school.

One thing which I believe would make education more equitable and inclusive for everyone is to allow people to feel comfortable with sharing ideas, thoughts and emotions. I believe it is extremely important to feel supported in your learning environment and making mistakes should not be ashamed of."

"I love to teach others to share information. I also love sports as outside activity helps brings people together. I also love reading books of people to a different world with multiple perspectives.

I want to help people that were in my situation of being bullied and to help others that are falling behind."

"I think it's important to educate yourself in different cultures. I want to educate myself on the Palestinian side of my family, then educate others.

The more diverse a curriculum, the more people will engage with it. I want to read about first generation immigrants, about gender equality, about being trans. We need to educate people on the minorities, not the majority."

"There are endless opportunities to allow for diversity in education, including:

- Have students study books by authors of colour, LGBTQ+, female, disability and so much more

- History of racism, misogyny, xenophobia, homophobia to be taught in schools to allows students to be informed and aware.

I see this opportunity as a way to contribute to the present and the future, to make sure voices of all people are heard and respected in education."

"I believe that some teaching methods should be altered for students that struggle to keep focused during class, whilst also teaching them the same material We also need classes every week which teach us about finances, setting up bank accounts, buying a house, securing a job etc.

I would like to take this opportunity for my opinion to be heard so that young people can feel happier and more comfortable whilst attending school."

"Having lived in Italy for 9 years, I realised that both the English and Italian education system have excellent characteristics but also flaws. It is not clear to me that one strongly better than the other but that one should learn from the other.

I believe that each individual should be able to obtain their upmost results. A vital part of this is that the education system must focus on strength rather than weakness."

"If the education system continues to discriminate the workforce will consist of people with indistinguishable skill sets and those who do not meet society's idea of intelligence will struggle to reach their full potential.

I hope to gain an insight into the education system and how it can be made more inclusive. I feel very strongly about current political issues, especially those around class, gender and racial inequalities, and I want to further my understanding into diversity's effect on society."

"I want to be a student ambassador because I think it's vital to get input from the students the curriculum educates, as well as help me understand what the curriculum is doing well and what it's not doing well. I believe it is critical for kids to not be alienated by the curriculum that is intended to represent them, but rather to embrace the diversity that makes us individuals."
