What’s National Numeracy Day?
National Numeracy Day is an initiative from the charity National Numeracy that brings together individuals, schools, colleges, businesses and communities to raise awareness of the importance of numbers and offer various ways to improve skills.
On Wednesday 13 May, we’ll be joining ambassadors, celebrities, business leaders and more to celebrate numeracy and support the cause by:
- joining the virtual festival of events, which will include none other than The Maths Factor’s Carol Vorderman in a Q&A with families. Watch the video here.
- launching a brand-new, free digital workbook, Boosting Number Confidence, aimed at helping adults who are supporting children with maths
- spreading the word to schools, colleges and communities across the UK.
How you can get involved...
There are plenty of ways you can get involved in the day!
Join the virtual festival
The UK’s first-ever online festival to help the nation with numbers will be filled with videos, interviews, book readings for kids, practical sessions for adults, free resources, puzzles and more!
Find out more about the sessions and choose the ones you and your families may want to join.
Explore Boosting number confidence: an interactive guide
Together with National Numeracy we have produced a new resource to help adults who support children’s maths learning both at school and at home. Focusing on confidence and mindset the guide is full of fun and practical activities, videos and tips and is designed help everyone build a positive relationship with numbers.
Take the Challenge...
Yes... there's also a National Numeracy Challenge.
Last year saw thousands of people rise to the challenge, check their numeracy skills and grow in confidence. We are encouraging everyone to give it a try.
Spread the word...
