The Pearson “Spotlight” series takes a look at current policy issues across education and skills. Each report is informed by a range of evidence from policy roundtables, independent polling, interviews, and desk research.
This series considers issues in the context of historic and recent devleopments and stated, or potential, future reform. There will be two further publications in the series this year, covering Online Schooling and Onscreen Assessment.
We welcome ideas for future Spotlight papers as we develop our programme for 2022.

Future papers in the series
The pandemic has had, and continues to have, a significant impact on the world of education. The necessary shift to online learning during lockdown accelerated the conversation around the use of technology in the delivery of learning. Our Spotlight on Online Schooling will investigate this topic further (due autumn 2021).
The disruption to exams over the past two years has raised questions about the alternatives to the traditional approach of sitting in an exam hall with a pen and paper. Our Spotlight on Onscreen Assessment will consider the future of examinations in a digital world (due winter 2021).
