Screen Resolution
You may find that lowering your screen resolution helps you see text and images more easily. As a start, in your Windows users can adjust their settings in the Settings menu by selecting System, Mac users can adjust their resolution in the System Preferences menu by selecting Display, then Resolution. Try a resolution of 800 x 600 and see how that works for you, you can adjust the resolution further to support your needs.
Magnify text and images on the screen
- In Windows press Ctrl and + on the keyboard to zoom in, continue pressing + to zoom in further, and Ctrl and - to zoom out. In Settings in the System menu, you can also adjust the default font size on the screen.
- On a Mac press the Command button and + keys to magnify, and the Command and - keys to undo the magnification. In the System Preferences menu, select Display then Scaled to select to adjust the default font size.
Browser extensions such as OpenDyslexic Font for Chrome are also available for learners with dyslexia who require a different font style.
Screen Magnifiers
Users who need to magnify a page may find that the operating system or third-party magnification programs work best. These programs have more options for magnification strength and other display settings including colour and contrast.
Magnifier on Windows
To quickly turn on Magnifier, press the Windows logo key + Plus sign (+) . To turn off Magnifier, press the Windows logo key + Esc. If you prefer using a mouse, select Start > Settings > Accessibility > Magnifier, and then turn on the Magnifier switch.

Zoom for Apple
Zoom is the screen magnifier for Apple devices including Mac desktops, laptops, iPads and iPhones. Zoom can be found in the Settings menu, within Accessibility.
Magnification for Android devices
Magnification is software on Android devices which allows for screen magnification. Magnification can be found in the Settings menu, within Accessibility.
Colour and Contrast Settings
Some users may find that using a high contrast of a specific colour scheme may help them to see content on pages. For example, a user may find it easier to see light text on a dark background, dark text on a light background, or in grayscale. Adjust your computers default settings to ensure the best user experience before logging in to Learning Hub. Windows users can find accessibility controls by typing ‘accessibility’ into the Settings menu on the device, Mac users can change their options in the System Preferences menu, IOS and Android users can change preferences by selecting Accessibility in the Settings app.
