Presents conceptual tools that can be applied to all kinds of scoring (from right/wrong to multiple-part), and shows how to apply these principles to: (a) right/wrong scoring of objective items, (b) four different kinds of rubrics, (c) point-based scoring schemes, (d) checklists, and (e) rating scales. The aim is to develop quantitative reasoning skills at the conceptual level, that is, to create teachers who do quantitative thinking without necessarily using mathematical formulas.
