In eukaryotic plant cells, photosynthesis primarily occurs in which organelle?

• A. Nucleus
• B. Golgi apparatus
• C. Mitochondrion
• D. Chloroplast

Answer: (D)

Verified step by step guidance

1. Identify the organelle responsible for photosynthesis in eukaryotic plant cells by recalling the function of each listed organelle.
2. Recall that the nucleus contains genetic material and controls cell activities but does not perform photosynthesis.
3. Understand that the Golgi apparatus is involved in modifying, sorting, and packaging proteins and lipids, not photosynthesis.
4. Recognize that mitochondria are the site of cellular respiration, producing energy by breaking down glucose, but they do not carry out photosynthesis.
5. Know that chloroplasts contain chlorophyll and are the organelles where photosynthesis takes place, converting light energy into chemical energy.
