In eukaryotic plant cells, photosynthesis primarily occurs in which organelle?

• A. Mitochondrion
• B. Golgi apparatus
• C. Rough endoplasmic reticulum
• D. Chloroplast

Answer: (D)

Verified step by step guidance

1. Identify the organelles listed in the problem and recall their primary functions in eukaryotic plant cells.
2. Understand that photosynthesis is the process by which plants convert light energy into chemical energy, producing glucose and oxygen.
3. Recall that the organelle responsible for photosynthesis contains chlorophyll, the pigment that captures light energy.
4. Recognize that chloroplasts are the organelles in plant cells that contain chlorophyll and carry out photosynthesis.
5. Conclude that among the options given, the chloroplast is the organelle where photosynthesis primarily occurs.
