From business executives to players and journalists, they all share their unique journey with language learning and how it has had a massive impact on their career opportunities as well as their personal growth.
James Murray
From working in business strategy at Arsenal and Chief of Staff at AC Milan, James Murray has found his way back to the UK as Chelsea Football Club's Head of Staff and Business Operations. James studied Italian at university and speaks to us about his experiences with language learning and how it has propelled his career.
Reshmin Chowdhury
Sports broadcaster and journalist, Reshmin Chowdhury's language skills have supported her diverse career interviewing some of the world's most iconic players, including Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry, has taken her across the globe. Currently presenting live Premier League Football on Talksport and live coverage of the Women's Super League for BBC Sport, Reshmin has also worked in Spain with Real Madrid TV, covered the FIFA World Cup in Qatar and fronted the Beijing Winter Olympic Games.
Hannah Hampton
Chelsea Football Club and England Women's National Team goalkeeper Hannah Hampton has had a remarkable professional football career, including being part of the winning Lionesses team at the UEFA Women's European Championship 2022. Hannah spent her childhood in the Villarreal CF Youth team in Spain and then moved on to Birmingham City. She shares her experiences with how her language skills have helped her on and off the pitch.
Stuart Brown
Head of Player Care at West Ham United, Stuart Brown balances the needs of the club and player and is involved in anything from transport, accommodation, family needs and scheduling to managing relationships and meetings with the performance and coaching teams. Speaking German, French, some Spanish and currently learning Portuguese, Stuart shares his experiences of language learning and how his language skills have helped him both personally and professionally.
Hannah Hampton - BSL
Chelsea Football Club and England Women's National Team goalkeeper Hannah Hampton learned British Sign Language from a very young age to communicate with her cousin, who is deaf. Hannah didn't want her cousin to feel isolated within the family and she is very passionate about the importance of learning BSL to help the deaf community feel included and valued.
