Q-interactive on iPad

As an active user of a revolutionary digital system Q-interactive™ you are able to access the world’s most advanced assessment tools anywhere, anytime. When we were creating Q-interactive we wanted to give you a simple and interactive system which would make the test administration process more engaging and personal, adding flexibility and efficiency to the way you approach specific tests and do reporting, as well as to help you save your precious time.

As a qualified Psychologist you are probably familiar with the Wechsler range of cognitive ability tests such as WISC and WAIS and might even be using them on a daily basis. If not, here’s a brief description of the assessments:

Cognitive Ability Tests

WAIS-IVUK – Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale 4th UK edition is used for testing those aged between 16 and 90 years, 11 months. Benefits of this test include reduced testing time more consistent instructions, improved measures of Working Memory, Processing Speed and Fluid Reasoning.

WISC-VUK – Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children 5th UK Edition is used for testing those aged between 6 and 16 years, 11 months. There are three new primary subtests, Visual puzzles, Figure weights and Picture span and this latest version of the most trusted cognitive ability gives a true picture of child’s abilities, and an overall intellectual ability. The test checks five specific cognitive domains that impact performance in the classroom and beyond and has additional information regarding a child’s performance.

These two tests are really popular with psychologists, but did you know that there are a number of other tests available to you via Q-interactive, which you may have overlooked. They can help you test and measure achievement, memory as well as neuropsychology. Let’s look at them and their key features in more detail:

Achievement tests

Did you know you could also test achievement in Q-interactive using WIAT-IIIUK – Wechsler Individual Achievement Test 3rd UK Edition a test which helps to identify the strengths and weaknesses of students across primary, secondary and tertiary levels and make informed decisions about eligibility for educational services, educational placement or diagnosis specific to learning disability? With the help of this test you can also plan intervention and measure progress. WIAT-IIIUK offers 16 subtests designed to measure reading skills, oral fluency and accuracy as well as oral reading speed. It also gives a comparison with Wechsler ability scores - age-specific scoring examples in a scoring workbook helping examiners learn how to use scoring rules, quick score guides for sentence composition and essay composition, theme development and text organisation. WIAT-IIIUK is best suited for testing children and young people aged between 4 and 25 years, 11 months.

KTEA-3 - Kaufman Test of Educational Achievement, 3rd edition is an individually administered battery that provides in-depth assessment of key academic skills. This test will help you quickly and easily identify strengths and weaknesses, and follow-up with the right interventions. By understanding the achievement gaps, you can measure your students’ academic ability and help them achieve their potential. This comprehensive assessment will help you evaluate key reading, maths, written language, and oral language skills, plus accurately measure academic progress (as well as identify learning disabilities) and minimise practice effects. KTEA-3 also covers a wide range of achievement and language domains and is available in a new digital format via Q-interactive as well as in traditional paper-and-pencil format.

Memory tests

These tests were developed in response to emerging trends to understand memory difficulties and will provide you with the most advanced measure of memory and its impairment. Let’s take a look at a few of them:

WMS-IVUK Wechsler Memory Scale 4th UK Edition will help you assess verbal and non-verbal memory abilities in adults; CVLT3 California Verbal Learning Test®, Third Edition to help you with assessment of verbal learning and memory deficits in adults; and CMS (Children's Memory Scale), a nationally-standardized scale, designed to help you link memory and learning to cognitive ability in children; CVLT-C California Verbal Learning Test ® - Children's Version is just the tool you need to assess verbal learning and memory in children.

Neuropsychology tests

You may have used some neuropsychology tests – if not, they are now available on Q-interactive and will help you measure a psychological function known to be linked to a particular brain structure or pathway. These sophisticated tests are used for research into brain function and help to diagnose deficits. Here they are in a nutshell:

DKEFS Delis-Kaplan Executive Function System - provides a comprehensive assessment of higher-level thinking and cognitive flexibility
