This session will consider how this election cycle has challenged political science theories. We also discuss how, in spite of its unusualness, some features of this cycle fit neatly within existing theories of political science.

Political scientists have spent decades studying modern American elections. But the 2016 presidential election season, in some ways, seems to have broken the mold of how we expect elections to play out. This session will consider how this election cycle has challenged political science theories. We will also discuss how, in spite of its unusualness, some features of this cycle fit neatly within existing theories of political science.
