How can courses for future teachers help them go deeply into the mathematical ideas they will teach? Activity-based courses can support and guide future teachers’ mathematical thinking, providing opportunities for the future teachers to grapple with central mathematical ideas and use these ideas in their reasoning and explanations. Instead of skimming over topics, future teachers engage with problems, discuss them, make sense of them, and explain their solution methods to others. This webinar will provide examples to illustrate how to teach a math course for future teachers that is centered on activities.
