Dr. Robert L. Gould and Rebecca Wong
In this session, Rob Gould and Rebecca Wong, who teach at UCLA and West Valley College, respectively, will demonstrate how to engage students in a data investigation activity that works in both the virtual and physical class. Particular attention will be paid to methods for encouraging productive and supportive working groups in a virtual environment, with the goal of immersing students in multivariate thinking. The presenters will discuss how the activity addresses the eight recommendations of the American Statistical Association's Guideline for Assessment and Instruction in Statistics Education (GAISE).
