The 2019 competition
In 2019, Pearson turned the page on traditional tales with a new international writing competition: My Twist on a Tale.
It was launched on International Literacy Day 2019 to encourage four- to 16-year-olds to tear up the rule book and put their own 21st Century take on classic fairy tales, fables and regional folk stories.
Over 3,000 students from across the UK entered the competition, with the hope of winning book vouchers for their school and their winning story being entered into our book of winning stories.

2019 Winning Stories
As part of our 2019 competition, we ran a trial special edition of the competition within the Trust to help encourage their pupils to write for pleasure. They were judged separately by Power English:Writing series editors Ross and Phil.*
