The Many Faces of Co-Requisite Remediation

Colleges and universities are being asked to create new paths to completion of college mathematics. Co-requisite remediation is rapidly emerging as the most popular approach. What is it? Does it work? What are some examples of successful co-requisite models? How are the objectives in a co-requisite course determined? In this session, Mike Sullivan III will discuss these and other questions surrounding co-requisite remediation and provide suggestions for adopting this approach.
Professor Mike Sullivan III
Mike Sullivan III has a varied teaching background that includes 15 years of instruction in both high school and college-level mathematics. He is currently full-time professor of mathematics and statistics at Joliet Junior College. His goal is for students to become more informed interpreters of data, so they will be better decision makers and have stronger critical thinking skills. Sullivan has authored numerous textbooks. With his father Michael Sullivan, he also writes the Introductory Statistics Series, including a Developmental Math series, and a Precalculus series.
