In this session, we explore how recent reports related to our profession, such as survey results from ACTFL’s Lead with Languages campaign collected from language-reliant US employers, point to digital solutions as an imperative, as is a focus on language learning expanded to the workplace. We'll review one possible model that employs Pearson's MyLab™ and the intermediate-level Spanish textbook Día a día to illustrate how these dual objectives can be met.

Professor Holly Nibert, The Ohio State University
Holly J. Nibert is associate professor of Hispanic Linguistics and director of the Spanish and Portuguese Language Programs at The Ohio State University, one of the largest language programs in the country. She is an award-winning educator whose research interests fall into three principle areas: Spanish phonology and phonetics, the acquisition of sound systems, and the principles and practices of second language classroom instruction, instructor training, and language program direction. She is co-author of two Spanish language textbooks published by Pearson— the beginner-level ¡Arriba! Comunicación y cultura and the intermediate-level Día a día, which applies a Spanish for the Professions approach early on in the curriculum to help students envision how Spanish fits into their future professional lives.
