Dana Center Mathematics Pathways Series

Put Your Students on a Path to Success

For years, the majority of students have been funneled through a default math sequence, regardless of their major. Now, many institutions are beginning to align mathematics requirements with programs of study. In this spirit, Pearson and the Charles A. Dana Center at The University of Texas at Austin have partnered to produce new MyMathLab and MyStatLab courses that provide multiple options to students. Rather than leading all students to College Algebra, students have three pathways from which to choose:

  • Non-STEM students can take Statistical Reasoning or Quantitative Reasoning
  • STEM-bound students can take Reasoning with Functions I and II
  • Foundations of Mathematical Reasoning is the common developmental-level course, which accelerates students along their math pathway

In each course, students develop conceptual understanding through active and collaborative learning in context. MyMathLab & MyStatLab provide interactive content to prepare students for class; interactive lessons to support an active classroom experience; and online homework assignments with many other resources.
