Students from Welbeck - The Defence Sixth Form College students have achieved some excellent A level results this year with 34% of all A levels being awarded A* or A grade. The College achieved a 99% pass rate with 81% of those achieving A* - C. Over 15% of students achieved AAA or better at A2. Lower sixth students take four examined AS levels and just under 20% achieved at least AAA. This is an impressive achievement considering every student at the College is required to start their A level programme studying Maths, Physics and two other subjects. These grades echo the results in 2015 which followed the strategic decision to retain students who achieved weak AS level results.

Pearson TQ provides and manages the technical and educational resources to the College, as well as teaching staff to help students achieve their highest academic and personal potential.

100% of students who were sponsored by one of the branches of the MOD have been successful in gaining a place on a university course approved by the Defence Technical Undergraduate Scheme. 75% of MOD sponsored students have been offered a place at their University of first choice. Many of these are engineering type courses which are in high demand and have highly competitive entrance grades. MOD sponsored students will attend one of our 11 partner universities, namely Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College, Southampton, Portsmouth, Birmingham, Aston, Loughborough, Newcastle, Northumbria and Strathclyde.

All of our students have worked incredibly hard to achieve the high grades required by our partner universities. We are delighted with the outstanding achievements of our students and wish them every success at university and in their future careers within the MOD and beyond. I am extremely grateful to the staff for their tireless work in supporting our students to realise such success.
