We'll look at these in more detail once we work through what our structure should be and try and match it with one of these. So this question is a little tricky only in that. This uses the format of a common name for a ketone instead of an Iupac name. So the common names of ketones, let's recall that a ketone is in the format if we have an R group bonded to our carbon, which is a carbon group. So it's a carbon with a double bonded oxygen. And then our carbon has another our group, our prime. So you can see why the common name sometimes then is in the format of the two R groups. So our group, our group, so we have RR prime, I'll write that above our name, Ethyl propol and then the word ketone makes sense. So in this case, we would have an ethyl group bonded to that C double bond O bonded to a propal group. So let's draw that out as a condensed structural formula. Well, our ethyl group will be a two carbon chain. So we'll have CH three. Again, we recall in a condensed structural formula, we have lines to show bonds. But in the case of CH groups, they're just drawn as a group of letters like this CH three not drawing out every individual CH bond. So we have CH three, CH two. That's our ethyl group mark that in red here apple. And then that CH two has a single bond to a carbon. This is our carbon carbon. So it has a double bond to an oxygen. And then now we have our purple group. So Propol means three carbons. So we just have CH two single bond C two, single bond C three. So there's our three carbon propal group. So you can see that overall, that gives us two plus one plus three. So that gives us a six carbon chain with that ketone and the ketone is on carbon three. Remember we always number our carbons so that the priority functional group in this case, the only one, the carbon carbon has the lowest possible number. So if we number, starting with our ethyl group, 123, that puts our ketone on carbon three, whereas if we'd numbered from the end of the propol group, that would put that carbonel group on carbon four. So if we were giving it its iupac name, this would be three hyphen hexagon. So just for throwing a sake there, so let's look at our structures and see which one matches this. So let's look at choice a choice. A, we do have 123456 carbons. So that's correct. And the carbon carbon is on carbon three. Everything else is proper, proper number of hydrogens, it matches the structure we do for ourselves. So choice A is going to be correct. Let's look at our other answer choices to be thorough to understand why they're not correct. In choice B, if we focus on that ketone, the carbon in the middle, we have two propal groups, we have three carbons on the left side, three carbons on the right side. So we have two propal groups instead of an ethyl and a propol. So that's why choice B is incorrect. When we look at choice C very easy to notice our carbon chain is too short. We have only four carbons in the chain with the carbon carbon on carbon two. So choice C pretty obviously incorrect. Choice D even easier to rule out. We have a, a ketone. It has a methyl group on one side, but on the other side, it has its prop group in a ring. So this is a cyclops group. So that's just way off our ethyl crop ketone. So choice D very easy to rule out. So once again, the condensed structural formula of ayl copy ketone, we find here in choice A we have HCH three C single bond CH two single bond C which has a double bond to an O single bond ch two single bond, CH two single bond CH three.
