Now in its fifth year, the Pearson School & College Report brings together thousands of voices from across UK education to build an independent picture of learning today.
Drawing on insights from teachers, students, school and college leaders, tutors and home educators, the report captures the realities of classrooms and learning communities nationwide. This year’s edition reflects more than 50,000 voices gathered since 2022, highlighting the trends, challenges and opportunities shaping education now and in the years ahead.

Schools Today, Schools Tomorrow
We asked almost 7,000 teachers and senior leaders in England to share their insights on education in 2022 and beyond, with a focus on the curriculum, challenges, pupil and community experiences, and the role of schools and teaching.
Schools across the country are helping students think critically, connect ideas and apply what they know. In an AI-driven world, these skills matter more than ever. With this in mind, AI Awareness Day gives schools a way to build AI literacy: “to know AI, question it, and use it wisely”.
New findings from Pearson (FTSE: PSON.L) reveal that at least 1.65 million primary and secondary students and over 250,000 college students in England may not be both emotionally ready and at the expected academic level to move on to the next stage of their learning.
76% of maths teachers responding to Pearson’s 2024 School Report stated that teacher recruitment and retention was a top challenge for their school to manage. Followed by budget pressures (51%) and teacher/school leader workload (41%).
These are all widespread issues affecting many maths teachers, day in and day out. They require whole-sector collaboration to improve. But there are also solutions available now to help ease the strain.
