Wake Up on the Right Side of the Bed: The Importance of Mornings
Mornings. A majority of people deem this as their least favorite part of the day. I was one of those people, until I decided to try out this thing called “productive mornings”. It wasn’t easy at first but now mornings have become a part of the day that I look forward to, and I hope they become that for you as well.
Kickstart your day
If you have ever gotten out of bed a few hours prior to your usual schedule, you can tell that the day feels as if it has doubled in time. It is like a magic trick, but the only magic required is the mindset before you go to sleep that you are going to wake up earlier. Oh, and an alarm, of course! If you typically end your day thinking about how much more you could have accomplished or how the day seemed to fly by, try waking up earlier. You will thank me later.
Breakfast of champions

If you have ever stepped into an elementary classroom or watched an Elmo movie as a kid, you know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. When you wake up early you are able to not only kickstart your day but also your metabolism! I used to skip breakfast without thinking twice due to being busy but now I look forward to trying new breakfast recipes and enjoying my sit-down morning meal. It has changed my health for the better. I recommend trying out some avocado toast, smoothie bowl, or egg inside an avocado recipe. Knowing you are going to try cooking something new in the morning is also motivation to get up and moving.
Sounds of silence
Quiet time is one of the main reasons I enjoy waking up early. I utilize this time of silence to read my daily devotional, journal, answer emails, and just organize my thoughts and plans for the day. If you feel like you always start the day scattered brained, this is the solution.
Sweet dreams
A big motivator for most is being able to go to bed earlier because of how productive their day was, leaving more time to come home, relax, and get a good night’s rest. This also relieves stress, reduces daily anxiety, and keeps your body on a healthy sleep schedule.
I challenge you to wake up early tomorrow and attempt to make “waking up on the right side of the bed” a part of your daily routine. Remember, it only takes twenty-one days to form a habit. I promise you will not regret it!
