Careers in science are hugely varied; from astronomy to zoology, the possibilities are endless. With so many choices in the science sector, the path ahead for learners is exciting and rewarding.
That’s why we’ve worked with the Science Council to create a fantastic opportunity to make those first steps into a science career more accessible. Learners with a BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Applied Science (RQF) or Pearson NVQ level 3 Diploma in Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities will be on the path towards becoming a Registered Science Technician (RSciTech) with the Science Council when they complete their course

What is a Registered Science Technician (RSciTech)?
Registered Science Technicians work in many different disciplines and roles. They deliver essential scientific services and support in laboratories, schools and universities, hospitals, and many other settings.
Being awarded RSciTech status gives those working in the field formal recognition of their achievements, access to professional body resources, and puts them in excellent standing for progression in their career.
Could you be an RSciTech?
RSciTech’s work with minimal supervision, are able to interpret and evaluate scientific data, apply scientific methods to problems or tasks and work within a scientific team to deliver a high standard of work.

Meet some of the Science Council’s Registered Science Technicians
How to apply for RSciTech
The BTEC Nationals in Applied Science along with the NVQ level 3 Diploma in Laboratory and Associated Technical Activities meet the qualification requirement of the Science Council’s Registered Scientist Technician (RSciTech) professional award.
This means that learners, upon completing their qualification are able to apply to become a Registered Science Technician after gaining relevant work experience.
