Your guide to vocational qualification reform in England

As you and your students consider your options, we’ll help you plan with confidence.

What's changing and when?

The Department for Education has published its post‑16 pathways implementation plan and as the new qualifications are rolled out from 2027 onwards, funding for some existing qualifications will be removed.

  • For Level 3: V Levels will be introduced.
  • For Level 2:  Foundation Certificates and Occupational Certificates will be introduced.

Our post-16 Engineering offer in England

The large BTEC Level 3 qualifications will be defunded in summer 2027. You can continue to teach smaller BTECs or transition to the new T Level qualifications for teaching from September 2027.

See below for all your post-16 options including some examples of mixed programmes of study for your learners.

We will update this list as funding rules change. Please get in touch if you need any help planning your curriculum or need further information about any of our qualifications.
