Freya Thomas Monk promoted to Managing Director of Pearson Qualifications

Pearson has appointed Freya Thomas Monk to the role of Managing Director, Pearson Qualifications. 

Freya will continue to oversee Pearson’s Vocational Qualifications and Training business and will assume additional responsibility for the Pearson School Qualifications business, which includes the Pearson Edexcel portfolio of GCSE, A level and international qualifications as well as UK courseware. She will also be responsible for Pearson's courseware business in Australia and Canada.

Commenting on her new appointment, Freya said:

Freya has more than 20 years of leadership experience in the education sector and most recently served as Managing Director of Pearson Vocational Qualifications and Training. In her new role, Freya continues to be responsible for the delivery of Pearson’s apprenticeships, vocational learning, and qualifications programs in the UK and internationally, working closely with universities, colleges and schools, government and employers, to drive skills to serve the economy.  

Freya joined Pearson in 2004 and previously led the fast growth of the digital English assessment business. She holds an MA from Oxford University and an MBA from INSEAD (Paris). She serves as Chair of Governors of a primary school in London. 

Sharon Hague, who previously led Pearson’s School Qualifications and School Assessment, has been promoted to President of English Language Learning at Pearson. Sharon will also serve as Pearson’s UK CEO, leading the company’s corporate presence in the UK.
