Hi everyone here's our next problem. It says toolmaking was thought of as a special trait that distinguishes humans from other related species, including chimpanzees. However jane Goodall observed chimpanzees behavior that debunked such a hypothesis. Which of the following did she observe? And we've got four different answer choices that involve um use of tools. Choice A. Says the chimpanzees use stones to cook their food. Choice B. Says the chimpanzees combed their for using modified twigs. Troisi says the chimpanzees built a cart for ease of transportation and Choice D. Says they modify plant stems into probes to extract termites from their mountains. Well the answer is Choice D. That is what jane Goodall observed chimpanzees using plant stems to extract termites by sticking them down into the mound. Um If you weren't sure if you didn't remember the story. Um It's the simplest option here, the most basic and the most basic drive of getting food. Um The others of course are more complex behaviors that chimpanzees do not use. They do not cook. Um They don't comb their fur and they don't build a card. Although that is a very fun image to imagine chimpanzees pushing things around in a cart. But again um The idea that only humans used tools was debunked when jane. Goodall observed Choice D.
