Hi everyone here's our next question. Triglyceride is a type of fat which is found in the blood. They are composed of blank voids of fatty acids and one unit of blank. So first of all the word might be unfamiliar to some of you. It certainly was to me. Um I had to look it up. It means a fragment the molecule so not just an adam but a portion of it smaller. Cool. Um That's its meaning chemistry and biology. It tends to mean a significant or meaningful portion of a molecule. So think of how many molecules we deal with in biology are sort of made up of parts like you might say the sugar majority of D. N. A. Is deoxyribonucleic. So in this case we're talking about minorities of fatty acids. Each fatty acid is sort of a long chain. Um So that that is sort of a meaningful portion of this triglyceride molecule. Now again we always talk about looking over our choices first and we see that were given for the second part, one unit. Um In Choice A. And Choice B. Um The the second part here is glycerol and choice C. And Choice D. It's mannitol. Now we can remember from our content videos with a triglyceride is let's say we're on a test and we don't have access to that. Well our name here is triglyceride so you could probably pretty quickly even if you didn't remember that a triglyceride has a molecule glycerol as its backbone. You could on a test eliminate C. And D. Because the very name glycerol ride is going to lead you to glycerol rather than mannitol and then we regardless Ride has three carbons. It forms the backbone of the triglyceride. So we sort of imagine our little backbone here and we know we have fatty acid chains. Again, it's a triglyceride. So that tri meaning three, that's going to give us that clue if we didn't remember that we have three long fatty acid chains bound to that glycerol backbone. So that leads us to Choice B.
