Verified step by step guidance1
Understand that mitosis is a type of cell division that results in two genetically identical daughter cells from a single parent cell.
Recall that the primary purpose of mitosis is to ensure that each daughter cell receives an exact copy of the parent cell's DNA.
Recognize that mitosis consists of several stages: prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase, followed by cytokinesis.
During cytokinesis, the cytoplasm of the cell divides, resulting in the formation of two separate daughter cells.
Conclude that at the end of mitosis, two daughter cells are produced, each with the same number of chromosomes as the original parent cell.
