Tropisms and Hormones
>> The binding of a hormone to its receptor on the target cell can influence protein synthesis, secretory activities of that cell, energy utilization, and properties of the plasma membrane. If the hormone is water soluble, it binds to receptors on the cell surface to influence cellular activity. If it's lipid soluble, it can bind directly to receptors in the cellular cytoplasm.
