 Henry's law states that the total pressure exerted by a mixture of gases is the sum of the pressures exerted independently by each gas in the mixture.

 The major function of the respiratory system is to supply the body with oxygen and dispose of carbon dioxide. To accomplish this function, at least four processes, collectively called respiration, must happen: (1) pulmonary ventilation, (2) external respiration, (3) transport of respiratory gases, and (4) internal respiration.
