Hey, everyone, let's do this problem. It says draw the appropriate skeletal and condensed structures for the following compound, 246 tri methyl Hep Tain. So before we draw the skeletal and condensed structures, we can't really jump straight to those unless you're a pro like me. But I'll show you how to do it. From the beginning. We want to draw the Lewis structures first and then we can go on to the condensed structures by seeing all the atoms that are in the compound. So we'll start with the longest continuous carbon chain, we can list those out. And then in between, we add the atoms that are bonded to each carbon and we list those usually after the carbon that they're attached to. And then lastly, we can jump back to our Lewis structure and convert that to the skeletal structure, which is basically just writing it in a zigzag shape and then removing the carbons and the hydrogen. Okay. So let's apply this for our compound 246 trying Metal Hep Tain. So when we're breaking down the name, we know we always want to start from the back end, the right hand side So the root is Hep tain. So that means we have seven carbons and our substitution groups, we have tri methyl. So three methyl groups C H three times three and those are on carbons, 24 and six. Not too bad, right? So let's draw this R Lewis structure. Let's draw our longest parent chain, seven carbons, 123456 weight. I lost count seven. And now we'll add our substitution groups, metals on carbon 234 in six. And now we just add hydrogen to satisfy the octet, right? So we know carbon wants to have four single bonds if we, if it has all single bonds, So we'll add three hydrogen to the end hydrogen. So the carbons with a methyl group get one hydrogen, the carbons with no methyl group get to hydrogen And the end carbons get three hydrogen. Alright. So now condensed formula, if we write out our longest continuous carbon chain, we're going to have carbons, right? 1, 2, 3, 4, 567. And our first carbon has three hydrogen. Second carbon has a hydrogen and a methyl group. So we write the hydrogen and then I should have wrote more space in between these 34567. So then we have our methyl group also attached to carbon two. We cannot just write this right because that makes it look like we have these two carbons attached to each other and then in the chain, right? But we want to show that it's a substitution group. So we draw it in parentheses. Okay. I still do not give enough room. I'll just draw them as I go. So Ch three. Okay. Now carbon three has two. Hydrogen, carbon four, same thing, ch parentheses, ch three, carbon five, ch two carbon six C H parentheses. Ec H three In carbon seven CH 3. But notice here, we can actually condense this even more because these end metals, CH three can be added To the parentheses group. And we can just write a two outside of the parentheses and show that these carbons Have two methyl groups on them. So condensing it even more, we can write CHCH 3, 2, see each two, CHCH three CH two. What happened to that? Carbon C H two C H C H 32, technical difficulties. So we have 12, I'm sorry. 123456789, 10 carbons, 123456789, 10. Okay. Just wanna make sure we're all correct. And that is our condensed structure. So now going back to our original structure or Lewis structure in order to get our skeletal structure. So we're going to draw our structure with a zigzag shape. So we had seven carbons,  aN:aN:000NaN methyl groups on carbons too four and six. And we just have hydrogen is that we already know are supposed to be there, but we're going to remove them anyways in the skeletal structure. So I'm not going to draw those again. We can just remove the carbons and hydrogen is here. So we have 1234567 metals on 24 and six. And that is our skeletal structure which makes be the correct answer for this problem.
