Starting with our first ionization step, we have oxalic acid which has A formula of C two H 204. We react this with water and we end up with hydrogen oxalate, which has a formula of C two H 04 minus. So we removed one hydrogen and hydro ni um ions. Our equilibrium expression for this. We can label as K. A. one since it's our first ionization step and this is going to be our products over our reactant and we don't include our water here since it's a liquid. Moving on to our next ionization step, we're going to take our hydrogen oxalate, which is C two H 04 minus and we're going to react this with water. Our products are going to be our oxalate ion, which is C 2042 minus since we removed that hydrogen and again our hydro ni um ion. Our equilibrium expression is going to be labeled as KA two.
