The decomposition of nitro made is being studied where the concentration time data for nitrogen and hydrogen plus or protons were gathered. Nitro decomposes into nitrous oxide, gas and water. What is the balanced reaction equation? So the balanced reaction equation, we were told that nitromethane decomposes. So we have our Nystrom right here and it's going to be the only reactant since it is decomposing by itself. And then our products are going to be nitrous oxide and water, Which is H 20. And so it's important to note that our nitro mind is going to be the quickest form. Our nitrogen gas is going to be in the gaseous form and our water is going to be in the liquid form. And so we can also note that our hydrogen plus is not a part of the overall reaction. And so it must therefore be an intermediate. And with that we have our balanced chemical equation. We see that we have to nitrogen on the left to nitrogen is on the right, two oxygen's on the left, two oxygen's on the right and then to hydrogen is on the left and two on the right, so it is completely balanced overall.
